Defend the Village (6)..The Finale ....

 The lead samurai decides it is time to let all the bandits into the village for the final showdown (numbers are about even on both sides)... they get into position ...

The bandits start their charge ...

Into the village ...

and then the fighting starts ....

then men on both sides start to go down ....

and the fighting continues ....

The bandits lose the edge and start to go down....

The bandit leader is one of the last still fighting ...

but not for long .... the struggle is over ...

the village is safe !

The final score:

7 samurai - ok but one is wounded, 10 villagers dead, 40 bandits dead.

(started with 7 samurai, 20 villagers and 40 bandits).

Defend the Village (5) ... the attacks continue ...

The fourth attack... two bandits get into the village on foot

With three more mounted ones through the breach ....

they are dealt with in the usual fashion ...

A villager is shot as the defenders edge out from the breach to see off the bandits ...

Meanwhile at the other end of the village, the two bandits had been dealt with but one villager had gone down.

The fifth attack ... Hardly had the defenders caught their breath when they came under attack again, four bandits made their way into the village on foot ...

and three through the breach ...

The lead samurai cut down one bandit as the others fought...

A villager went down and one bandit as well, but the fighting continued ...

until the last two bandits were killed, one of the samurai had been wounded.

The mounted bandits who got through the breach were dealt with, but it took a bit longer; two villagers were shot as they moved out too far (the bandits armed with muskets were taking their toll..)

Defend the Village (4) ...another attack is dealt with

Two bandits sneak up into a blind spot in the village perimeter...

and find their way through ...

At the other end of the village mounted bandits are in again ...

The two bandits on foot attack ...

The villager goes down as does one of the bandits, the samurai goes after the other bandit

and dispatches him ...

The mounted bandits who got into the village get a tough reception

and are soon dealt with ...

The Bandit leader exhorts his men to attack again ...

7 samurai - all ok, 2 villagers dead, 13 bandits dead.

Defend the Village (3) ... The first two attacks ....

 Some bandits get through the breach (the gap at the top of the village) -- they are attacked ...

Only three get through, the rest face by a wall of bamboo spears dither ...

The bandits who got through don't fair well - they are dispatched (outnumbered 3 to 1)

The Samurai and villagers get into position to counter another attack through the breach ...

The bandits make another attack at the breach ...

Four of the bandits get through, the defenders get to grips with three of them ...

One sets his sights on the samurai with the bow...

The bowman takes him down,  one of the other bandits is down while two more are still fighting ... 

but not for long..

The men blocking the breach get a bit adventurous and edge forward,  coming under fire from bandits armed with muskets, one villager goes down...... the rest fall back to cover...

Defend the Village (2) - Defences in place ...The Bandits arrive

The Seven have arrived, training the villagers....

Defences were put in place around the village... just in time... the Bandits arrive the next day ...find the road into the village blocked ...

No obvious way in by the back - the woods are in the way, can't get in by the side - stakes in the ground and the paddy filed flooded as high as they go ...

No way in via the bridge over the river, its been dismantled and a barricade in place on the village side of the river...

at the top of the village the Bandits can see a a gap, they send some men in ...

the action starts next,  currently finalising game mechanics etc ...

Defend the Village (1) - All Quiet ... Table Layout finalised...

 Finalised the table setup for my 'Defend the Village' game. I used parts of a game mat to give some better ground effect for the village and other parts of the table.

I'll put the village defence bits back in place and then sort out any special game mechanics and what rules to use.
